So the seat I got yesterday happens to be electric. That wouldn’t be such a big deal, but it’s reclined a little too far back. I need to get it reclined just right, which means possibly hooking it up to electricity. Is there an adapter I can get that would allow me to plug it into a standard household power outlet?
The alternative would be to circumvent the powered mechanism by hand. Would that be possible?
[This is Forza Acura , my attempt to build a driving simulation rig with a real car seat and a Logitech G920. All installations of the project will be under the tag “Project SIMULATOR”]

Have you considered plugging it into your accord?

Why not just rig it up to connect to a car battery?

I bet if you stopped by the service dept. of a Honda dealership they might fix it for you. Probably for free.

If there’s a way to plug it into my Accord without removing the seat, I’d do it.

You'd probably have to remove the seat.

Do you have an old PC PSU laying around? They output 12V DC. Otherwise, you can buy a AC/DC converter. But since you’re buiding a sim rig, I assume you have a PSU handy.
EDIT: Hell, on that note, I’d rig it up to a PSU permanently in your rig if I were you. You might want to adjust it later, or let a friend drive...

I don’t have one. I need one to power the seats?

I’ll consider that.

I just assumed you were building a PC rig, so you might already have a PSU. That’d be the cheapest way of powering it via a household outlet. Otherwise, you’d need to buy a 12V DC power supply such as this one.

It’s four bolts, 12mm IIRC, and some plastic covers that pop off with a flathead. May as well give it a good vacuum while you’re at it.
Or, just run banana-clipped wires to the seat harness, or even straight to the car’s battery.

It would be a fairly simple way to get a 12V supply to the seat that plugs into a standard wall outlet. Someone on E46Fanatics did something similar.
You should be able to find an ATX power supply on eBay for around $10.

I think the easiest way would be to take 2 wires, the battery from your electric drill and find pins for the movement you want.

You can use a 12v battery from a drill too with some simple leads.
